Burnout is REAL. In this blog post there are a few simple things you can do to take care of yourself.



Checking Your Basic Needs


These needs are what we require for ou our well-being: food, sunlight, relationships etc. These days we are all so busy that sometimes we neglect them. Healthy self-care starts with making sure we take care of these basic needs.

Now and when you are feeling like you are neglecting your basic needs especially when you forget the last time you had a good night’s sleep. This list will help you create a picture of your current lifestyle. Check off the needs you meet regularly.


Please remember, these questions are not meant to make you feel guilty, they are reminders that you should at a look at your needs and make changes that help you have a healthy life that is fulfilling. Make a plan to check your basic needs often: monthly / quarterly or bi-annually


  • Can you remember the last time you had a really good laugh?

  • Do you usually get 6 - 8 hours of sleep?

  • Do you drink at least 8 glasses of water per day?

  • Do you eat fresh vegetables and fruits?

  • Do you get enough exercise?

  • Do you have people you can talk to when you need support?

  • Do you nurture your friendships?

  • How often do you release negative emotions?

  • Do you feel aligned with your values?

  • Do you feel a sense of fulfillment?

  • Do you regularly see your doctor? Dentist?

  • Do you forgive yourself for the mistakes you make?

  • Do you spend time in nature?

  • Ever catch a sunrise or sunset?

  • Do you pray? Do you meditate?

  • Do you take time for solitude?

  • Do you treat yourself from time to time?

  • Are you comfortable saying No? when you want to?

  • Are you as confident as you want to be?

  • Do you speak up when you want to?
